Dental Fear

Some people are afraid of dental offices. Anesthetics and other procedures of modern dentistry need not cause concern. All our procedures are 100%safe and mastered to make your dental chair experience as comfortable for you as possible. If you or someone you know has such anxiety, the following tips and exercises could help.

You may use the following relaxation exercise to reduce your anxiety:

  • Inhale slowly and deeply, counting to five at one-second intervals. Between each count, think of a single word, such as “calm” or “peace” to help free your mind from distracting or stressful thoughts.
  • Hold your breaths for 1 second, then exhale slowly, counting backwards from five to one and silently repeating your chosen word. Simultaneously let your cheek and stomach muscles relax, while also dropping your shoulders.
  • Repeat this cycle 3 times.

You can talk to your dentist about other ways to reduce anxiety and reverse fears of specific procedures. Overcoming your fear will make dental treatment a much less emotionally stressful experience, and you may also find you become more relaxed and calm.
